While Microsoft’s new Edge browser has a cast feature, this only supports Micacast and other video casting technologies. However, simply enabling a few flags will get you the full Chromecast experience.
To enable the feature:
- Pro Tip: You can find many great videos about Disk Drill online including our new tutorial and introduction videos on YouTube. Now that you have your Chromecast setup to stream from Mac you can learn about Disk Drill from the comfort of your own living room, just a few clicks to stream and a few more for easy file protection and recovery.
- Make sure the Chromecast is up and running and click the icon. From ‘Cast to’ option select your Chromecast and the audio from your Mac will start streaming to the TV/Monitor you’re Chromecast is connected to. Download SoundFlower. Download Soundcast. Streaming is nice and smooth with both Soundcast and Chromecast Audio Stream.
In the latest Edge Preview:
Enter edge://flags in the address bar.
Search for #load-media-router-component-extension and enable it.
Search for #views-cast-dialog and enable it.
Restart the browser.
You should now be able to cast YouTube video by pressing the Cast button in the video, or other video by using the Cast Menu under More Tools
This feature by itself may be worth switching rendering engines. Hopefully, it will make it through to the final version of the browser.

Google won’t let Chromcast users set up their devices with a PC anymore. Instead, users would have to use the Google Home app (Available on Android-enabled devices and iOS) to set up their devices.
A Google Chomecast set up help page now reads: We no longer support Chromecast setup on a computer. To set up your Chromecast, please use a mobile device.
This is the same way Google recommends setting up your Google Home devices. It seems the firm is simply reducing redundancy and confusion and streamlining the number of ways users have to set up Chrome enabled devices. Once set up via these apps you’ll still be able to use your Chrome devices to receive audio and video from tabs and cast enabled apps on your PC as always,

While the Chrome browser still lets you manually navigate to the cast set up page in Chrome 71, Google will be removing this feature completely from Chrome in January with the release of Chrome 72.
